Summer Nights - BBQ
Well it took me 3 showers and much scrubbing to get the smell of smoke off me but it was all worth it. We had around 55 people turn up to Hove Lawns last night for a BBQ and a laugh together. There was more meat then anyone could eat, chicken, beef, pork, and lamb, some of the meaties even brought veggie burgers to share.
The atmosphere was fantastic with members of the group ranging in age from 6 months to 60 years. Everyone had a great feed, sharing food, drink and jokes. People were mingling in and out of new and old friendship groups making new friends and strengthening old relationships.
A small spattering of rain threatened to put a dampener on the proceedings but, much like last week, at 7pm the sun began to shine and the people began to arrive. I cremated the first set of sausages (but they were all eaten) and we skilfully managed to arrange the chicken so as to cook it and not burn it. From around 9pm people began to drift and a smaller crew took it upon themselves to burn everything they could, keeping the fire alive well into the evening.
Last night was such a success we are considering doing it all again. Watch this space for more details on that…
