Summer Nights - Beach Volleyball
Volleyball was the order of the day and although the weather conspired against us, it couldn't stop us! In true Brighton style, even though it was raining all day, 25 intrepid explorers made it as far as Yellowave BeachSport Centre last Wednesday for an evening of smiles, laughs and the occasional bit of volleyball. Some of us traveled further then others, some even went to the wrong beach volleyball court but eventually we were there, the sun was setting and the teams were picked.
We had 4 teams, all completely mixed, all as bad at volleyball as the other and that was what made it such fun. A round robin tournament followed, some amazing dives, spikes, sets and volleys were on display, with team 4 beating everyone to become the eventual victors. Following that team ‘Man’ took on team ‘Woman’ and, allowing themselves to only hit the ball when diving, put in a sterling performance but were narrowly beaten. Nineteen people took part in the volleyball itself with 6 valiant supporters cheering on from the sidelines.
It was a great start to St Peters Summer Nights and it just shows the fun you can have if you grab some people and do something. I hope you will all come and join us this Wednesday at Hove Lawns for a bring and share BBQ and some frisbee, rugby, football or, as I will be suggesting, simply sitting around and relaxing in each others company.
