What is Focus?
Last year 250 of us from St Peter's went away together as a church, and had a brilliant time...just think hog roasts, BBQ's, sunny lunches together, lots of food! And time to meet with God.
Last year more than 3,700 people gathered at Golden Sands for the 20th event. We have our own 'St Peter's Marquee' so you'll never feel lost. It's a place where we'll gather every lunch to chat about the mornings activities and plan the afternoon - whether that be attending a seminar, a game of football or snoozing on the beach. Everyone who has been to Focus remarks upon the extraordinary sense of community they find there, and what a great week away it is.
Focus is the annual teaching week away for members of HTB, its church plants and other church friends. It has been running since 1992 and guest speakers have included Rowan Williams (just before he was made Archbishop of Canterbury), the Bishop of London, John Wimber, Jackie Pullinger, Judah Smith, Nick Vujicic, J.John, Mike Pilavachi, Christine Caine, Brother Andrew, Lesslie Newbigin and Heidi Baker.
Guest speakers for Focus 2012 include Fr Raniero Cantalamessa, Preacher to the Papal Household and Brian and Bobbie Houston, founding Pastors of Hillsong.
At Focus there are many opportunities for worship, prayer and teaching as well as community activities. We all found that we returned to Brighton Focus feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on the year ahead.
There are a wide variety of speakers both in the Big Top and the seminar tents as well as programmes for students, youth and children. There are also sporting and creative activities, evening entertainment and a 24-7 Prayer venue, Bookshop, Marketplace and Café.
